So the family starts with the couples and ends with the couples. Children are added as they are born and transferred to new family as they get married. This is how the cycle works in this website.
Priests, nuns and those who are single and live alone can create families with single member.
- Click on 'My Info' from the menu at the top. Then select 'My Families'. On mobile phones, click on the three dots seen top right corner to see 'My Info' menu option
- Click on Member to add other members of the family, one at a time. Remember, only Father, Mother, and unmarried children are part of the family. Create a separate family for married children
- Click on GeneralInfo to update family name, address, and contact details
- Click on Marriage to enter details of marriage
- Click on FamilyPicture to add family pictures.Multiple pictures can be uploaded. It is suggested to add one photo from every 5 years after marriage
- Click on New Family to add families of married children or older generations in the family
For members living away from family, their address can be entered on the page where Member's details are added. (If all members in the family are living at the same address, there is no need to enter address on the Member-details page.)
Those members will be displayed in the directory along with the family as well as in the directory of the city where they live.
- On Member-details page, click on 'Add Photo' or 'Manage Photo' to add photo of that member.
- On 'My Family' page, click on the photo of the family member. All pictures of the member will be displayed and new picture can be added.
It is suggested to add pictures from every 5 years of one's life. It will be interesting to see the physical changes of the member over time. You can make one of the pictures 'Preferred' that will be displayed in the family ancestry. Also, the one designated as 'Profile picture' will be displayed with the News, and Obituary you publish.
- On Member-details page, if you click on Event/Dates menu, details like date, place, and video linke can be added.
- On 'My Family' page, click on the calendar icon All events/dates already added will be displayed and new events/dates can be added.
It is natural to forget dates, but once added here, we can quickly and conveniently check anytime from our phones. Also, we send email reminders for birthdays and death anniversaries of close relatives.
- On the page where a new member is added, there are options to select father and monther
- Search screen appears when you click on the menu option to add father or mother. If parents belong to the same family, select them from the list.
- Otherwise search using your parents' name and family name and then select from the list.
To complete the family tree, except for the couples in the oldest known generation, everybody should have their father and mother selected.
- Make sure his/her spouse is registered in the website and get the transfer code. This can be found on 'Update MyInfo & Setting' page
- From the current family record, use transfer menu to transfer the child to the new family.
- Once transferred to the new family, they can update their family details
- On the Family page, click on Family Picture menu.
- Click on the family picture (if there is one already) on the Family screen. This will show all pcitures already added and new one can be uploaded as well.
Up to 20 family pictures can be added. It is suggested that you enter at least one picture form every 5 years after marriage. It will be a pictorial representation of your family history.
Divorce - After divorce, whoever needs to be removed from the family, that person's member record can be transferred to the new family.
Remarriage - After remarriage, transfer the member record of the new wife/husband from her/his family and then update the role in the family.
- Update the child's record by selecting 'Married Non-Kna'.
- If you want to add the non-Knanaya spouse (for the sake of creating family tree), transfer the child to a new family and add spouse as 'Non-Kna'
- Their children can be added to this new family as 'Non-Kna'
- The user who created the family record can update the death information of any family member
- Using the option 'Update death info', close relatives of the deceased person can update the death information
It is very important to update the death information. It is used for many statistics of our community.
We request all Knanaya community members to register. That way, everybody can update their family record, see the family tree of others, and search for other Knanaya people. Also, registered users can publish many items on this website.
- Delete all family members
- Delete all family pictures
- Delete all marriage records
- Click on Delete menu and the family will be deleted from the database
