Dallas KCADFW
Our History and Community
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Knanaya Catholics from Kerala, India, began settling in the Mesquite, Garland, and Fort Worth areas of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Seeking to preserve their faith, culture, and close-knit relationships, families would gather periodically in each other’s homes for prayer, fellowship, and cultural celebrations.
Recognizing the need for a formal community structure, a group of dedicated members established an organization on April 11, 1992, at the home of Jacob and Aleyamma Mullassery in Mesquite. This marked the official founding of the Knanaya Catholic Association of Dallas/Fort Worth (KCADFW) as a local chapter of the Knanaya Catholic Congress of North America (KCCNA).
Leadership and Governance
KCADFW elects an executive committee every two years to lead the organization. This committee is responsible for planning activities, supporting community development, and fostering unity among members.
Events and Activities
KCADFW organizes a variety of events throughout the year to promote fellowship, celebrate cultural traditions, and strengthen the spirit of community. Major activities include:
- Christmas and New Year Celebrations
- Super Bowl Watch Party
- Valentine's day Celebrations
- Women's day Celebrations
- Mother's day and Father's Day
- Annual Picnic and Sports Competitions
- Onam Celebration and Cultural Programs
- Thanksgiving Potluck
- Annual Camping Trip
Sub-Organizations
To better serve the needs of our diverse members, KCADFW has established several sub-organizations:
- Women's Forum – Represents the adult women of the community
- KCYL (Knanaya Catholic Youth League) – For unmarried youth raised in the U.S
- KCYD (Knanaya Catholic Yuvajana Vedi) – For unmarried youth who immigrated from India during their teenage years
- Kids Club – A group for young children to engage in cultural and faith-based activities
KCADFW owned a house and used it as the office.
